Corian is a patented blend of minerals and acrylic introduced by DuPont in 1966. It is a solid surface material which is used for facing or manufacturing a myriad of everyday objects such as sinks, counter tops, cutting boards, desks, light fixtures, even cremation urns. No doubt it has innumerable industrial applications as well which I am not aware of.
