Cunningham's Law was put forth by Ward Cunningham, creator of the first wiki. As he put it:

"The best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer."

Like Poe's Law, this is one of the counterintuitive but empirically validated rules of the internet. People are more motivated to correct others than to teach others, and the cardinal sin of posting -- anything -- is to believe that you are right when you are in fact wrong. It is possible to use Cunningham's law to your advantage, be warned, if you are caught intentionally posting a wrong answer in order to find the right answer, you will be labeled as a troll.
