Breed of pony native to Dartmoor, in South West England. Makes a good children's pony.

Indiscriminate breeding amongst the ponies which run wild on the moor has led to significant dilution of the stock, both in quality and in trueness to type. Unlike the New Forest Pony there is not a great proliferation in numbers and the breed is thus becoming endangered.

The best examples are bred at stud farms, which could be anywhere in the UK, and do well in the show ring.
