The founder of the Storm Track website, Dave Hoadley is considered to be one of the founding fathers of storm chasing, along with Roger Jensen and Neil Ward.
He claims that his interest in storms 'began in June, 1956 in Bismarck, ND. A severe thunderstorm knocked over trees and power lines in town. I spent the next day driving around town taking 8mm movies of the damage.
