This is the
death which my brief
career in
Tech Support died. After the hundredth day on the job where
escalate is transitive,
action is a verb, people spell '
knackered' as '
naked' and expect to be correctly understood, I had just about had it. The continual failure to speak proper
English, call things by their right names, state explicitly what was to be done to clients, contractors or colleagues, or pay the barest attention to making sense nearly drove me insane.
'FooCo are
chasing, Alex. Can you
escalate this for me? It needs to be actioned.'
I
hate jargon. I was recently in a meeting where our
webmistress turned to the big boss and said 'What does that really mean?'. And nobody could tell her.
