If she was serious, you would never know it
Her face, made for card games, was illegible

When a somber event occurred she would arrive in an old prom dress
Dancing awkward pirouettes, Tilted to one side
And playing the accordion badly

She greeted her chemo with a fedora
And a penchant for mismatched scarves
She brought doughnuts to our support group
And taught us charades:

Two words….Sounds like???....
Yes!!....Back spasms!!!

She missed our last group
and we had to muddle through without an agenda
It never occurred to us that we would have to pick up the slack

We’re ALL slackers ya know.

She used to say that.
