Baureihe (Class) 360 is the new designation for the unmodified, light version of Deutsche Bundesbahn's 'V60' diesel shunter. V60s, that is, locos of the classes 360 through 365, are among the most ubiquitous locomotives in Germany -- and not just there; the UIC having declared the V60 a standard in its class, foreign railway operators bought some, too.

From 1955 through 1964, nearly any factory in Germany capable of building V60s did so. MaK, Krupp, Henschel, Krauss-Maffei, Jung, Maschinenfabrik Esslingen, KHD and Gmeinder built a total of 942 (ninehundred and forty-two!) units. 623 were built as "light" engines, 319 received more built-in ballast to become "heavy" locos.

While the last 360 went out of service with Deutsche Bahn on January 1st, 2003, I think it makes sense to node this class anyway, as a lot of the old engines have found new homes with DB's competition and this node can serve as a reference for the derived classes 361, 362, 363, 364, and 365.
