Literally, "The Turning". Common German expression for the sequence of events in 1989 and 1990 that began with protest marches in East Berlin and ended in the fall of the Berlin wall and the German unification.

Often used to divide the history of Germany after the second word war into the time vor der Wende (before the Turning) and the time nach der Wende (after the Turning).
