Diet Vanilla Coke

A drink introduced by The Coca-Cola Company in the Fall of 2002 as an artificialy sweetened version of their recent hit Vanilla Coke. Some differences:

• While original Vanilla Coke was aimed more at the mass market (with a slight emphasis on the large Youth Segment), Diet Vanilla Coke, "The Refreshing Vanilla Taste Without the Calories" will be more focused at the over 30s, mostly women, the main market that buys diet drinks.
• It is unknown if Diet Vanilla Coke is supposed to taste the same or slightly lighter, but most people report that the vanilla taste is not as strong as plain Vanilla Coke, so people who liked the idea but not the strength might prefer this drink.

Interesting trivia fact: Diet Vanilla Coke was not seriously considered until the release of Vanilla Coke, when about 7,000 customers called up the company to ask if a diet version was being produced.
