A wonderful novel by well-honored writer, Jane Hamilton. Currently, this book is available in paperback, hardback, audio cd and tape. The most enjoyable version of this, in my opinion, is the audio. Such a wonderful book is made all the more pleasant when read by Robert Sean Leonard.
An enticing tale of a mother's infidelity and a son's discovery of the deterioration of his family. Such interesting little quirks, such as the young daughter, Elvira, posing as a young man in order to take a serious role in the Civil War reenactments that she is overly obsessed with, give this novel a light all it's own. It is an excellent read and an entertaining listen.
