A journeyman pitcher from San Diego who threw the only World Series no-hitter, for the Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1956, a perfect game. Fellow SD native David Wells threw one for the Yanks in the 1998 regular season; David Cone's subsequent no-hitter was done with Yogi Berra's mitt from 1956 as a good-luck charm of sorts. Larsen was otherwise unremarkable; he lost 21 games with Baltimore in 1954. At the time of the no-hitter, he pitched from the stretch, baserunners or not.
