Lung Men (Dragon Gate) is the set of steep and precipitous rapids on the Yellow River, where it flows between the provinces of Shansi and Shensi in China. According to Chinese legend, a carp that successfully breached the rapids was transformed into a dragon.

The image of leaping carp is a popular one employed in Chinese art. The legend of the Dragon Gate also serves as a metaphor for the aspiring student passing his exams, bringing honour to his family.
