On a lake edge
near dusk
I walked around each side
of an empty shed
after my far approach

The brush overgrown,
with a secret in its shadows
between the ragweed,

I looked in the clouded windows
into the darkness inside
trying to find her

A bridge to the east
over the pond
when she'd told her memories,
and the road along the hill
of fallen leaves to the north
where the churchgoers met

As they ceremonied,
outside I sat on the lawn,
picking between the grass
my head hung
between so many seasons, lost
