Duke Snider (1926- ) was the center fielder for the great Brooklyn Dodgers team that went to six World Series in ten years (1947-1956). With Snider on the Dodgers, Willie Mays on the Giants, and Mickey Mantle on the Yankees during the 1950s, New York City had the three best players in baseball playing center field for the game's three best teams.

Snider was a run-producing machine, finishing in the top ten in runs, RBI, home runs, and walks every year from 1950 to 1957. From 1953 to 1957, Snider hit 40 or more homers for five straight seasons. His 43 bombs in 1956 led the league, and set an all-time Dodgers record that stood until Shawn Green hit 49 in 2001.

Snider was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980.
