King of Kent 760-764

Of Eanmund's parentage nothing is known but it is known that he came the king of West Kent in the year 759 on the death of Eadbert when Aethelbert II was over-king of Kent. When Aethelbert himself died a year later this Eanmund succeeded to the kingdom but shared his duties with Sigered who is spoken of as "king of half Kent".

Eanmund's reign was short as in the year of our lord 762 the powerful Offa of Mercia came to impose his own will upon Kent. Eanmund may truly be counted as the last king of the kingdom of Kent as henceforth fell under the sway of Mercia followed by that of Wessex.
