Part of the U.K rail network, the East coast mainline is the high speed rail link connecting London Kings Cross to Edinburgh. The line itself is maintained by Railtrack, but train services on the line are provided by GNER.
The line runs along the east coast of England passing through (among others) Peterborough, Doncaster, York and Newcastle on its way north to Edinburgh. The line carries both electric and diesel locomotives including high speed trains on loan from Eurostar, the company that provides services through the channel tunnel.
