  1. One of the five Spartoi, or men born from the dragon's teeth sown by CADMUS, who were still surviving at the foundation of Thebes. He married Agave, one of Cadmus' daughters. She gave birth to Pentheus, who later ruled over Thebes and tried to oppose the introduction of the Dionysian cult there.

  2. One of the Argonauts, the twin brother of Aurytus, son of Hermes and Antianira.
