Ecological debt

The cumulative responsibility of industrialized countries for the destruction caused by their production and consumption patterns. Based on the assumption that rich northern countries extract vast amounts of natural wealth at the expense of southern countries. The ecological debt also includes the illegitimate appropriation of the atmosphere.

Examples of accumulation of ecological debt include:

• The use of the best natural resources in poor countries for export purposes.
• Polluting of the atmosphere
• Depositing of toxic and nuclear wastes in the Thirld World.
