EDGAR: an acronym for Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system, is the database established by the Securities and Exchange Commission for the receipt, archiving, and dissemination of public filings by American businesses. Companies submit their info to the SEC via EDGAR, and the info is available to the public. A useful tool for gathering info on corporations whether you're a shareholder, a potential investor, a competitor, a consumer, or an employee who wants to know how much compensation the CEO is getting.
