A Jewish-American actor who was born Elliott Goldstein. He was born in New York in 1938, and his first role in a major film was in The Confession in 1964.

Elliot Gould has appeared in a zillion movies, a tiny handful of which are : M*A*S*H, Nashville, Capricorn One, The Muppet Movie, Muppets take Manhattan, Bugsy, Naked Gun 33 1/3, The Big Hit, American History X, and Playing Mona Lisa.

He is a regular on the sitcom Friends as Ross and Monica's father. He has also made a cameo (as himself) on the sitcom Just Shoot Me.

Gould was at one stage married to Barbra Streisand. He once said: "Success didn't change me. I was already distorted before I became a star."
