End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is a state of advanced renal, or kidney impairment that is irreversible and lethal unless treated. This condition is commonly the result of complications associated with diabetes, hypertension, certain renal and hereditary diseases, old age, and a combination of other risk factors.

It is often treated with peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis.
