One of the London boroughs in the north of London, covering the areas of Enfield, Winchmore Hill, Ponders End, Cockfosters, Southgate, Edmonton and Palmers Green. The area has some historical interest: Henry VIII lived here, in Elsynge House, and Thomas Hardy was married in St Andrew's Church.

In heraldry, an enfield is a beast having the head of a fox, the chest of a greyhound, the talons of an eagle for its forelegs, the body of a lion, and the hind legs and tail of a wolf.

It occurs in the crest of some Irish families of the name of Kelly.
