Enloe

W.G. Enloe High School is a high school located in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. It is a magnet school in the Wake County Public School System. Enloe is known for an extraordinary fine arts program, but academics at Enloe is strong. In 2000, Enloe was recognized as the "Best Magnet School in America" and Enloe was #39 on U.S. News and World Report's ranking of high schools.

Enloe's mascot is the Eagle. Walking around the halls of Enloe is a diverse experience. You can easily find a niche, regardless of the group you want to associate with. Enloe is not a temperate school; it is a dynamic school full of extremes.

Interesting facts about Enloe High School (from a former Enloe student):

• In recent years, Enloe students were investigated by the Secret Service for circulating counterfeit money. Any arrests were not made public.
• Enloe achieved local notoriety once again for sexual services rendered to its football team in the locker room preceding a game, as well as for hazing practices by its soccer team that were deemed dangerous by administrators, including the assault of a fellow soccer athlete on a schoolbus. • The school newspaper is currently banned from running advertisements of any kind. This stems from a local gay-rights organization's ad offering youth outreach to LGBT teenagers that stirred up angry conservative parents. The current principal actively enforces the ban. • As a result of this ban, the newspaper is funded largely by the principal himself, which gives him effective veto over the newspaper's content. He has exercised this power to censor multiple articles, including editorials by student newspaper staff.
