King of East Anglia 625-627
Eorpwald was the son and of the great king Raedwald and succeeded his father as king of the East Anglians. Under the influence of king Edwin, whom his father had helped place on the throne of Northumbria, Eorpwald accepted the Christian faith and sought to convert his people to the new religion.
But amongst the East Anglians there were many whose devotion remained with the old gods and under Ricberht they rose in rebellion and slew poor Eorpwald.
