Ezra Cornell, and his friend Andrew Dickson White, founded Cornell University near Ithaca in 1865, primarily to advance agricultural learning. (Hey, what else matters?) The Cornell library division of rare and manuscripts collections has a digital collection of materials pertaining to Ezra Cornell, such as his correspondence and diaries, and even the Cornell family geneology.

There is a statue of Ezra Cornell at the Western edge of the Cornell University Arts Quad.
