Marketing psychology is just so interesting. One of my Facebook friends (more of a workplace acquaintance really) shared a photo link which has been bugging me. It is from a site called “Southern Boyz Outdoors” (and their page is pretty much what one might expect from an organization so-named) and depicts a woman dressed in black, with three young children clinging to her. She is standing in an affluent-looking neighborhood, next to a large pickup or SUV. Her face appears determined, she is aiming a handgun directly at the viewer of the photograph, and the caption states: “WHEN RUNNING AWAY IS NOT AN OPTION.”

What is the most likely scenario when running away would NOT be an option? Probably when someone with a GUN is aiming it at you. Of course she could hop in the pickup and mow the threat down … but she’d probably need a license for that.
