Feijoa

The New Zealand Feijoa, sometimes known as the Pineapple Guava is a lime-green, egg-shaped fruit with a soft, succulent flesh similar in texture to a pear. Originally, a native of South America, crops are available from California. Its flavor is reminiscent of pineapple, quince, lemon and a bit of eucalyptus.

I knew someone who loved feijoa, and maintained that feijoa is what the righteous in the afterlife got to eat for breakfast (for supper, according to tradition, they had the flesh of the leviathan, but breakfast was feijoa, according to this friend of the family).

I thought the flavor reminded me of pixie sticks. You know, those paper tubes of powdered candy. Quite nice.
