People who control large corporations are becoming the Lords of their companies, building defences against the battering rams of hostile takeovers.

Increasingly, these people have power to do as they will, as long as they pledge allegiance to the export laws of their King. However, they can do what they want because they can hold the economy of the world to ransom, as nowadays, a small fluctuation in the share price of a large company can cause currencies to go into freefall. This means that, even more in the future, corporations will have more and more powers to enforce their view of what the world can be. The trouble is, they also hold consumers to ransom, because the public needs the products the companies produce.
