Fibre to the Home (FTTH), is one aproach to solving the last mile problem in providing high speed internet and other data services to the home. This approach makes use of optical fibre to connection the home to the digital backbone. While optical fibre is initially more expensive, than other broadband solutions, it pays out in the long term as the extra bandwidth is already available when the demand goes up.
