This is a fingering chart for the Boehm flute, which is by far the most popular flute design these days. It is built in the key of C. This chart only goes down to a middle C; some flutes can go down to a B with a special foot but I don't have that so I don't know the fingering. This chart may also be used for the piccolo and the alto flute, though that is made in a different key.

You may note in some places that there's two fingerings for what should basically be the same note (A# and Bb). I've been told that the A# fingering is okay, but you should really use the Bb fingering instead. I've noticed a very slight difference in pitch between the two. In addition, pitch can be changed by rotating the mouthpiece towards or away from your lips, which can help bring those notes into tune (Ouroboros reminded me of this). You may also note that there are optional keys on the really, really high notes. I don't know why that is. I almost never play a C# two octaves above the staff so I haven't spent much time thinking about optional keys.

Key - note that counting of fingers starts with the pointer finger being first, and the pinky being fourth.
