The first major label studio album produced by the Corrs. It was released on September 26, 1995 by Atlantic Records without much fanfare, and showcases the band's unique and distinctive style that blends Celtic music with modern pop. Some of their best work to date can be found here, in fact the songs "Runaway" and the title track were actually duplicated on their second album Talk on Corners (released in 1997). The band's musical roots are more evident in this album than in their other releases, with several traditional Celtic instrumental songs such as "Carraroe Jig" and "Erin Shore". It's a great album, in my opinion, and it surprises me that it wasn't the release which made them famous. It puts the Corrs right up there with U2 as one of the most important musical groups to come out of Ireland. Anyone who enjoys Celtic/new age music will love this album, as will those who are into mainstream pop.

Playing on the album:

Andrea Corr - Vocals and tin whistle

Sharon Corr - Fiddle and backing vocals

Caroline Corr - Drums and bodhrán

Jim Corr - Guitar and keyboards

Highlights: the song "Runaway" is probably the best song this band of siblings has composed to date. "Love to Love You", the title track, and "The Right Time" showcase the band's ability to blend two distinct musical styles into a unified whole, an ability which they, sadly, seem to be gradually losing in their more recent work as they become more mainstream and "corporatized". From the instrumental tracks, "Toss The Feathers" is one of the best, and displays their virtuoso musical talent.

It's also of course the name of the title track of the album, and here are the lyrics:

All alone, staring on
Watching her life go by
When her days are grey
and her nights are black
Different shades of mundane
And the one-eyed furry toy
that lies upon the bed
has often heard her cry
and heard her whisper out a name
long forgiven, but not forgotten

Chorus: You're forgiven not forgotten
You're forgiven not forgotten
You're forgiven not forgotten
You're not forgotten

A bleeding heart torn apart
Left on an icy grave
And the room where they
once lay, face to face
Nothing could get in their way
but now the memories of the man
are haunting her days
And the craving never fades
She's still dreaming of the man
long forgiven, but not forgotten

(Repeat Chorus)

Still alone, staring on
Wishing her life goodbye
As she goes searching for the man
long forgiven, but not forgotten

(Repeat Chorus)
