Almost every car today has bucket seats or split bench seats or something like that.

Until the early 80's, though they made cars with a front seat which was one continuous bench with 2 or 3 seat belts punched into it.

This has advantages and disadvantages. It meant that everyone in the front had to accept the driver's seat position since the seat one one big one, but it also meant that if you were a teenager and had your date in the passenger seat, well, you could make a move much more effectively.
