Gotham Shield (aka GS 17) is a nationally led Urban Areas Security Initiative, or UASI, four hour event with free lunch included, sponsored by FEMA. The goal is to evaluate the community involvement in prevention, response, and recovery after an Improvised Nuclear Device occurrence.
Federal, state, county, and local officials participate specifically to set up and have operational a Community Reception Area (CRC) geared towards people with disabilities as well as access and functional needs. Citizens are encouraged to join in the exercise to experience how a CRC would be helpful in the event of a radiation emergency.
In central New Jersey, participants are assigned to the Korean Community Center (SYK), for the purpose of population monitoring. Transportation and accommodations upon request. Please register prior to November 6, 2017. Anyone else think there are too many acronyms and this sounds fishy, to say the least?
