Bavaria, not far from
Austria. A favorite
skiing spot for
Germans and for
American soldiers stationed in

quaint little Bavarian town, though somewhat
tainted by Americanization and tourism.
Its neighbor is
Partenkirchen, so you might hear the area referred to as
Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
