Probably the second most legendary reggae artist next to Bob Marley. Garnett Silk has been called the reggae equivalent to Robert Johnson, the infamous bluesman of the early twentieth century.
Like Johnson, Silk was an immensely talented singer-songwriter and became a major influence within reggae in addition to attaining folk hero status after his bizarre death in a gas fire explosion.
He was best known for his conscious lyrics and social commentary in songs like Zion In A Vision, but was also adept at writing reggae love songs and ballads that proclaimed his devotion to Jah.
