Garry Kitchen

Garry Kitchen was a video game programmer in the classic Atari 2600 days. He and his brothers Dan Kitchen and Steve Kitchen were both some of the best programmers around back then. He produced games under the Activision, Coleco, U.S. Games, and Beagle Brothers Software labels. Below is a list of games credited to this programmer. (Please /msg with any additions).

• Alter Ego (MS-DOS)

  One of Garry's only PC games.

• Crossbow (Commodore 64)

  Almost the whole Activision gang worked on this one, Garry Kitchen, Alex DeMeo, Steve Kitchen, Dan Kitchen, and several others.

• Donkey Kong (Atari 2600)

  This was Garry's first title. Released by Coleco this was an Atari 2600 translation of the popular Nintendo arcade game.

• Garry Kitchen’s Game Maker (Commodore 64)

  This was a very popular "Make your own game" package. People still use this today (along with Commodore 64 emulators) to make new games.

• Garry Kitchen's Super Battletank: War in Gulf (Sega Genesis)

  This is a decent title, although it was rushed through production so it could hit the shelves while the Gulf War was still "cool".

• Keystone Kapers (Atari 2600)

  Garry had originally intended this title to be a lot like Crazy Climber, but his buddy David Crane convinced him that a pseudo-side-scroller like Pitfall! would be much better.

• Pressure Cooker (Atari 2600)

  The manual to this game informs us that "Garry is a dynamite ping-ponger and, of course, loves to eat hamburgers."

• Space Jockey (Atari 2600)

  This is a nice spaceship game. I have one of these that is still shrinkwrapped.

Garry also did a lot of uncredited work on other designer's games. He helped with most of the titles that his brothers did (his brother Dan Kitchen said that Garry was "a little more artistic than he was"), and was known to lend a hand to David Crane (on such titles as A Boy and Bis Blob).

Garry is currently the CEO of SkyWorks, a company that does Flash and Shockwave games for various websites. He is not alone there, as he brought along his old Activision pals David Crane and Alan Miller.
