Country singer (most fans would consider him a legend), born on September 12, 1931 in Saratoga, Texas.

He had his first top 5 country hit with "Why Baby Why" in 1955. Since then, he has had a huge number of #1 hits on Billboard's country chart, including "White Lightning" (1959), "She Thinks I Still Care" (1961), and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" (1980).

He was married to Tammy Wynette from 1969 to 1975, recording many duets with her during their marriage.

He is still recording today. His most recent CD, Cold Hard Truth (featuring the hit song "Choices") was released in 1999.

George Jones died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was hospitalized April 18 with fever and irregular blood pressure. He was 81 years old.
