Track 6 on The Who's 1971 Album Who's Next. It has a F, F7 piano chord progression throughout most of the song, varying with D7 and whatnot.

This song was only performed live a few times, at the Young Vic shows, but then dropped from The Who's live act. It was most definitely intended for Pete Townshend's abandoned Lifehouse project, as was most of the songs on Who's Next. It was orignally entiled "I'm in Tune". Lyrics by Pete Townshend, vocals on this song are Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend.

The song, as I said before, was for Townshend's Lifehouse project. The basis of Lifehouse is that everyone is united through music. The way I see it, the singer (Bob Snow, see the Lifehouse node), is singing the verses, and the audience (in actuality, one character), is singing the bridge. It's about the moment where the audience and the band all comes together, and how music can do this. The lyrics, in this context, make a lot more sense.

I'm singing this note
'cause it fits in well
With the chords I'm playing
I can't pretend
there's any meaning hidden
in the things I'm saying

But I'm in tune
Right in tune
I'm in tune
And I'm gonna tune
Right in on you
Right in on you
Right in on you

I get a little tired of having to say
"Do you come here often?"
But when I look in your eyes and see the harmony
And the heartaches soften

I'm getting in tune
Right in tune
I'm in tune
And I'm gonna tune
Right in on you (right in on you)
Right in on you (right in on you)
Right in on you

I've got it all here in my head
There's nothing more needs to be said
I'm just bangin' on my old piano
I'm getting in tune to the straight and narrow
(Getting in tune to the straight and narrow)
Getting in tune to the straight and narrow
(Getting in tune to the straight and narrow)
Yeah, I'm getting in tune to the straight and narrow
(Getting in tune to the straight and narrow)

I'm singing this note 'cause it fits in well
With the way I'm feeling
There's a symphony that I hear in your heart
Sets my head a-reeling

But I'm in tune
Right in tune
I'm in tune
And I'm gonna tune
Right in on you (right in on you)
Right in on you (right in on you)
Right in on you

Baby, with you
(Baby, with you)
Baby, with you
(Baby, with you)
Baby, with you

I've got it all here in my head
There's nothing more needs to be said
I'm just bangin' on my old piano
I'm getting in tune to the straight and narrow
