Muslim soldier, warrior. Somewhat akin to Mujahideen, except perhaps without the guerilla atmosphere. These are legitimate fighters in the cause of mainstream Islam run by an Islamic government.

The last true Ghazis were thus governed by the Ottoman Empire, which collapsed in 1914 from internal political tensions.
