A long-time fannish synonym for God, according to the Jargon File. Often found in comix or in the phrase "Bheer is the One True Ghod!". It is pronounced with an initial gutteral as in loch, or Chanukkah. Pronunciation of same is not the same as taking the name of the Lord in vain, since one is using one more phoneme than necessary.
