GSCM is one of the 318 councils of
GSUSA, and one of four that serves
Girl Scouts in
Maryland. GSCM's jurisdiction includes
Baltimore City and five counties -
Anne Arundel,
Baltimore,
Carroll,
Harford, and
Howard. The
Board of Directors has twenty-seven representatives from throughout the
council's jurisdiction, and the council has sixty-one employees and 9,116 registered adult
volunteers (mostly
troop leaders). GSCM staff is responsible for supporting
outreach projects, developing
activities, overseeing volunteers, managing
fundraising and
public relations, maintaining council-owned properties, and running the council's store and Volunteer Resource Center. As of
August 31, 2001, GSCM had just over 38,000 members.
