Much-quoted passage from Book 8, Chapter 7 of the "Confessions" of St. Augustine of Hippo - possibly so popular because the idea of a saint and father of the Church saying something like this tends to tickle the fancy of even the most dusty pedant. However, the quote is taken out of context, as St. Augustine was referring to the follies and excesses of his younger days.
