Giya Kancheli (b. August 10, 1935) is a Georgian composer now living in Antwerp, Belgium. The fall of the Soviet Union precipitated his burst onto the world scene, but his works extend back to the 1960s.
His haunting piece 'Morning Prayers' remains one of my favourite pieces of classical music.
