A Global Union Federation is an international confederation of national unions engaged in representing workers employed in a similar commercial sector. Global federations have grown up in response to the growth in multinational employers although differences in national legal systems and commercial practices make cross-border settlements a practical impossibility. The parties therefore normally content themselves with establishing framework agreements or codes of conduct within which individual national settlements can be made.
