Greg Lehey is a legend in the open source and Unix community, having been involved for over 25 years.

Greg is developing the Vinum Volume Manager, while upgrading the FreeBSD kernel SMP code as a member of the FreeBSD Core Team. Greg is on the executive committee of AUUG (the Australian Unix Users Group).

Greg has written several important Unix books, including Porting UNIX Software (O'Reilly and Associates), and Installing and Running FreeBSD and the more recent The Complete FreeBSD, (Walnut Creek).

Greg was born in Australia and was schooled in Malaysia, Australia and England. He studied Chemistry at the University of Hamburg and Chemical Engineering at the University of Exeter, but never worked in these disciplines, rather, he entered computing as soon as he finished his formal education.

Greg has worked for Univac, Tandem, Siemens-Nixdorf, the DFVLR (Deutsche Forschungs- und Versuchsanstalt f¸r Luft- und Raumfahrt), and is currently employed by Linuxcare's OzLabs in Adelaide.
