Simply put, a home in which a group of people lives together. People who live in group homes are often there because for one reason or another they choose not to, or cannot manage living on their own. Group homes generally specialize in providing services to a particular faction of society, such as children or adults with developmental disabilities, at-risk children, adults recently released from prison, or children who simply have no place else to go. Group homes are usually run by non-profit or for-profit businesses. Daily operations are often managed by a staff who tends to such things as housekeeping, the nutrition needs of residents, medication disbursement, and skills training for residents.
