Gun Shy is a highly enjoyable comedy starring Liam Neeson, Oliver Platt, and the lovely Sandra Bullock. Neeson plays an undercover cop who is losing his wits (and his bowel control) after a sting gone awry. He wants to retire but has to hold it together long enough to nail Platt's character, a psycho hitman who just wants to pursue his life-long dream of being a gardener. Bullock provides Neeson with emotional support and witty dialogue.

Liam Neeson has been one of my favorites since I saw him in Michael Collins and later in Les Miserables. He seems to be quite the flexible actor, handling the transitions from comedy to seriousness and back quite well.

Sandra Bullock is, of course, Sandra Bullock. She's mostly there as a love interest and to supply some female comic relief, and does a good job of backing up Neeson without stealing the show.

Oliver Platt also does a great job with his character, casually maiming people as if he liked it. He was also blessed with some great lines, such as "Can you believe the irony of this shit? Can't even go to the bathroom without getting into a pissing contest." If that didn't just convince you to watch the movie, I don't know what will.

Patience, he told her
Her Uncle, the day he loaned her the pistol

You need to get to know a weapon first
before you use it

So she practiced for weeks
at his farm
lining up soda cans on a fence
learning how to stand
legs shoulder width apart and
how to squeeze the trigger
slow, but firm

She had time to let her feelings change too
from heartbreak into resolve.

Patience, she told him
her Ex, that afternoon when he opened his back door

This will only take a moment
she didn't lie.
