H.O.R.D.E. Festival

Horizons Of Rock Developing Everywhere

Concieved in 1992 as an idea by Blues Traveler who wanted to tour outside one summer. Some other bands from the same east-coast music scene pooled their resources to form the first H.O.R.D.E. festival, originally called 'Horizons of Rock Developing East-Coast,' but changed to 'Everywhere' as they felt they didn't want to restrict themselves.1

The original bands for the 1992 tour were:

The next year, they did it again, with a bigger budget, and several new bands, some for the whole tour, others just for some shows. The headliners in '93 included Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Blues Traveler, and Allgood. The '93 lineup continued to emphasize the east-coast jam/groove scene, which was gaining popularity at the time as a more upbeat counterpoint to the heavy, angst-ridden grunge of the Seattle scene.

In later years the tour branched out further, coming to include, at one time or another, Sheryl Crowe, The Allman Brothers, King Crimson, and Dave Matthews.

The last H.O.R.D.E. tour was held in the summer of 1998.
