Αλιακμων

  1. The Haliacmon was a river in Macedonia, the god of which was said to have been the son of Oceanus and Tethys.

  2. Another legend has it that an inhabitant of Tiryns named Haliacmon had been smitten with madness and thrown himself into the river known until then as the Carmanor; thereafter the river took the name Haliacmon. Later still a third name was given to the same river, which then became the Inachus.
