Happy Rhodes is a female musician whose music is rather difficult to describe. She's often compared to Kate Bush, but that just barely begins to describe it. Her early albums are spare and dark. In those days she only used acoustic guitar and synthesizer (along with many layered vocals--all done herself). Later albums still maintain some of the darkness, but the sound is much fuller, with a full band on some songs. Her vocal range is astonishing.
